The leading offshore sailing classes will return to the waters of Ilhabela, in São Paulo state, from 17 to 24 July 2027. The Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI) has confirmed the dates of the 54th Ilhabela International Sailing Week Daycoval, the discipline's main competition in Latin America.
The event again expects to bring together professional and amateur sailors, alongside athletes who have competed at the Olympic Games, the Pan American Games and world championships. In 2026, 127 boats and more than 1,000 competitors from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay took part.
"The event has taken on a very important dimension, not only for Brazil but for world sailing. It is the biggest competition in Latin America, with Olympic and world medallists. On top of that, we had more than 200 children from social projects in the Vela do Amanhã and a full social programme mixing the environment, talks and activities at the club. In 2027 we will improve the sailors' experience even further," said Fernando Palermo, commodore of the YCI.
At the last edition, more than 40 races were held for the ORC, BRA-RGS, RGS Cruiser, Classics, C30, HPE25 and Super 40 classes. Crioula 52, owned by Eduardo Plass, took the ORC overall standings, while Onda, of Eduardo Souza Ramos, won the Super 40 Championship.
The programme also featured racing among classic boats and one-designs, plus activities ashore. In all, 55,000 visitors passed through the event, which recorded an estimated economic impact of R$ 55.5 million and 80% occupancy in local hotels.
The Ilhabela International Sailing Week is organised by the Yacht Club de Ilhabela, with technical supervision from the Brazilian Offshore Sailing Association (ABVO).
The 53rd Ilhabela International Sailing Week Daycoval had Banco Daycoval as master sponsor, Mitsubishi Motors and FF Seguros, a Fairfax company, as official sponsors, the Brazilian Navy as official partner, Genoa Capital as sponsor of the Vela do Amanhã Mauro Dottori Regatta, Pousada Manga Rosa as partner hotel, and was staged by the Yacht Club de Ilhabela.
